Afternoon: Start your city tour with a visit Tiananmen Square, the largest public square in the world. Next stop is the Forbidden City. OCT 19, WED• Beijing - Xian
This morning start your tour with an outside view of the 2008 Olympic Venues – the Bird’s Nest and the Water Cube. Today you’ll also visit Badaling Great Wall of China. “You are not a real man [or woman] if you have not climbed the Great Wall.” More than 8,000 miles in total length, the Great Wall is the most famous image of China throughout the world. It is the only manmade object visible from the moon, and as one of the Eight Wonders of the World, it is also a symbol of Chinese traditional culture and the pride of the Chinese nationality.

OCT 20, THU• Xian
Upon arrival in Xian, you will be picked up at the train station and taken to your hotel to freshen up. Today’s first . Over a period of more than 2000 years, Xian was the capital for eleven dynasties. Your fist sightseeing stop will be at the City Wall. You will also visit the Museum the Mosque, the Muslim Market and the Big Wild goose Pagoda, built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty. It originally had 5 stories, which collapsed after 5 years. It was rebuilt in 704 and 5 new stories were added, three of which were destroyed in a massive earthquake in 1556, leaving the structure of 7 stories we see today. There is still a decided lean to the pagoda. The pagoda was built to serve many functions including housing the sutras and figurines that were brought from India by the Buddhist monk who translated the original texts - Xuanzang. Shanghai, the cosmopolitan city and business heartland of China, is modern and dynamic. Pace yourself in this cosmopolitan city steeped in a mix of Chinese and European Colonial history, explore the 1920s art deco laneways amidst a backdrop of modern towers and visit more traditional sites as suggested below.
After breakfast, start your memorable tour of Shanghai by walking along the famous bund, a mile-long stretch along the Huangpu river. Lined by the colonial architecture of European design, this area is the best place to capture the western influences of the old days. Continue to visit the Ming Dynasty Yuyuan Garden, one of the four greatest Chinese gardens.
